7NEWS Sources: Dover-Sherborn Middle School student charged in case involving inappropriate photos

A police analysis was launched at Dover-Sherborn Middle School after inappropriate images were circulated between middle school age boys according to NEWS sources NEWS sources say detectives revealed that the boys collected citizens pictures of females classmates in swimsuits They say one of the boys then shared those photos and included pictures of unknown naked women Investigators began looking into the situation at the beginning of the school year and say they ve interviewed students their families and collected forensic information The superintendent says the programs took place off school grounds and not during school hours The district notified the parents of students involved and gave them the opportunity to file formal complaints Sources tell NEWS one male attendee faced charges in juvenile court Encouragement services were made available as well These actions have parents talking It s definitely disturbing but it reinforces my decisions as a parent to not provide my kids with smartphones not give them that system to use and to educate them about those dangers stated a mother in the district I think they should just investigate and see how far it goes It might ve just been a silly thing that these kids were doing I mean silly things still do have consequences but I don t know Maybe a strict warning to the boys disclosed Alisa Goldberg Dover-Sherborn parent I would say they re too young but then I think of the silly things we seemingly did when we were in middle school and that was without the internet Superintendent Elizabeth McCoy issued a declaration saying in part We take very seriously our responsibility to protect the safety and due process rights of every novice in our schools District bureaucrats have taken appropriate action throughout this process to adhere to federal state and district policies and protocols and will continue to do so
